18 CAPSULES FOR LEADERS IN MINISTRY
[My Experience]
I hate ignorance. Ignorance kills. It turns its
victim into pauper. It turns a vision into lie. It frustrates vision. I am all
out to pour all the experience I have got by the help of God to help others.
1.
Write the vision on the wall (Habakkuk 2:2):
It is a command! This helps me a lot to regularly see it as reminder and check
if am still on track and running towards it.
2.
Separate yourself to wait before the Lord: Group prayers are best for spiritual warfare but
when it comes to knowing the mind of God on matter, God reveals such to one.
God reveals His next plan for the ministry to the Leader who separate himself
to wait before Him.
3.
Stay focused with your calling: No one could believe our ministry has a 30-year
goal to have 11 great establishments around this same drama ministry some
called joke. “The light of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be single,
thy whole body shall be full of light.” (Matthew 6:22).
4.
Grow by responding to God’s chastening: There is what God wants you to learn by allowing
the challenge to face you. If you yield rightly as He expects from you, you
will be promoted. Else, you remain in
one spot. "My son, despise not the chastening of the LORD; neither be weary
of his correction: For whom the LORD loveth he correcteth; even as a father the
son in whom he delighteth." (Proverbs 3:11-12).
5.
Have mentors:
Why mentors and not mentor? Because we have different virtues in these
treasures. Some will help you in marriage, others in ministry, career,
business, spirituality, etc. Learn to give to them your time, energy, and
resources. It is a seed. Please note that they are humans and may not be
accurate in their advice. You have the sole duty to weigh their opinions on any
subject matter before deciding. You are the product of your choice and will
have no one to blame on your failure.
6.
Hold your book and pen everywhere: Inspiration comes at any time unannounced (Job 32:8).
Inspiration is like a rain from heaven which falls on a number of people who
are connected to God’s frequency but it takes the smart ones to retain it and
work with it till it produces results. As the head of a gospel ministry, who
really wants to remain relevant among his peers and needs divine secrets to
trade with, you can’t come up with a humanly strange concept except you receive
from a supernatural source. So live ready so as not lose evergreen ideas.
7.
You are the vision-carrier: It can only work in your hand, any imitation will perform
less. So magnify your office and let no one intimidate you. Celebrate the
prophecies given through you even when it is not yet manifesting. "And
many resorted unto him, and said, John did no miracle: but all things that John
spake of this man were true." (John 10:41)
8.
Members that you beg to join, you will beg to stay: Let your members be convinced to serve God under
your umbrella.
9.
Continuously seek for infilling of Holy Ghost power:
Holy Ghost power is needed every
day for sensitivity and victory over demonic manipulation and unleash,
especially when you have a prophetic and deliverance ministry.
10.
When passing
through the stormy moment of the ministry, Satan joins hand with the storm to
attack your faith in your calling: Surely,
people will join the team too by mocking and calling you names such as
“Stupid”, “Foolish man”, “Useless”, “Lazy”, “Beggar”, “Idle”, etc. Be prepared
for such.
11.
Be a dynamic
minister: A dynamic minister is
not dogmatic or static. They have sound knowledge of Bible and not just church
doctrines.
12.
Drive members
to work: This will reveal the
real ones God has sent to stay or learn from you. And always pray for regular
spiritual checking and reshuffling. This is because one wrong person in a ship
can cause shipwreck of hundreds (Jonah 1:15).
13.
When other ministries’ testimonies expose your
weakness or failures, don’t get angry:
I have heard rumours like, “A ministry is better than this or that.” This is
wrong because that is not the kind of boasting God requires from us. Don’t get
annoyed; our foundational trainings are different. Stay focused with the unique
assignment God gave you and ask Him – your caller to glorify Himself in your
ministry.
14.
Understand the principle of holiness: We are saved by grace and justified by faith in
Christ and not by works so that no man will boast in his flesh. Stop boasting;
keep asking for more of His grace so as not to fall.
When you fall, rise from the mud again,
and ask the Shepherd to clean you up from your mess and stand strong again.
Don’t allow anything guilt to limit your exploits in the Lord and don’t sleep
in the mud of self-condemnation. God hates idleness. Get back to work again.
God is waiting for you.
15.
Obey heaven’s instructions promptly: Even when it sounds strange to the ears, obey it
promptly. Sometimes ago, God asked me to pack my only TV, mattress, and fan in
my one-room apartment and take it to a church. I told my fiancée and her
response was, “Are you sure you heard from God? If you say so, no problem…” Not
long after, I received a bigger and flat screen TV and a huge sum of money
beyond all I gave. Just obey God. He does not need them; it is to test our
obedience.
16.
Understand
God’s timing: There is a place for patience and there is another moment for
speedy implementation. Your level of growth in God will determine if you can
phantom His leading.
17.
Give no
room for scandals: If you don’t want fire to burn you, stay away from fire.
A Yoruba adage says, “What you don’t want to eat, don’t sniff it.” Integrity is
your image. Integrity is priceless – money cannot buy it. If you mess up once,
you will be shocked at the rate the rumour will circulate around and abroad
which you may not be able to reverse it. Guide your image with godly jealousy.
18.
Know
your uniqueness and strive to remain unique: The gift placed in you is what
makes you unique. Don’t deny it. Groom it and announce it by using it to add
value to lives. You will always have blessings in return and it will be refined
to produce more.
